Document: A Councillor’s Guide to Local Economic Development (LED) in South Africa
Description

This Councillor’s Guide to Local Economic Development (LED) in South Africa was compiled and edited by the South African Local Economic Development Network (SA LED Network), which is hosted as a project by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA). It generates and gathers information and knowledge from a wide range of sources and organisations in order to give an overview of the current LED landscape in South Africa to inform the newly elected local governments and their administrations.
This undertaking would not have been possible without the financial commitment and content contributions to this shared project by many of the partner organisations we have been working with for a long time. We thank the following national and international partners for their support:
Department: Cooperative Governance (DCoG), Department: Trade and Industry (the dti), Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, NETSAFRICA, Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF), European Union (EU), Local Economic Development Network of Africa (LEDNA), Centre for Municipal Research and Advice (CMRA) and the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
