Document: LED Network Case Study Amathole District Municipality – Genesis Process
Description
This document is a South African LED Network case study of a Genesis process undertaken in the Amathole District Municipality in the Eastern Cape. Amathole Economic Development Agency (AEDA) and the Amathole District Municipality (ADM) have identified the need to improve the Regional Economic Development Strategy (AREDS) for the Amathole District. The revision of the district economic development strategy requires good data, extensive participation, and partnership with other economic actors. The strategy will provide strategic decision making information to guide the development of LED action and implementation plans, as well as institutional requirements. It will not replace the IDPs of the local or district municipalities, and will be followed by action-implementation plans. Furthermore, it will focus on the district economy and priorities, and can therefore inform, but not replace, local level strategies.
