Description
An interesting and quite new model to plan and implement Local Economic Development outside the municipal structures is being applied in Somerset East, a small town 180km north of Port Elizabeth. Instead of overburdening an already under capacitated LED unit in the municipality, a decision was made to outsource the LED function to a development agency. The focus lies on small-town revitalisation the Development Agency is owned by the municipality.
