Document: Lukhanji Local Municipality: LED Strategy - Situation Analysis Report - April 2008
Description

Lukhanji Local Municipality falls under the jurisdiction of the Chris Hani District Municipality. The need for a Local Economic Development Strategy for Lukhanji Municipality is clearly stipulated in the Integrated Development Plan (2005). Given that Local Economic Development is an emerging discipline at local government and much of the work done to date in this field has not yielded satisfactory results, the Lukhanji Municipality has identified the need for a clear medium to long-term strategic framework that will guide and direct its local economic development initiatives.
This Local Economic Development Strategy will provide the reader with a detailed analysis of the Lukhanji area of jurisdiction, as well as provide guidelines to the Lukhanji Local Municipality in terms of priority projects that are practical and implementable.
