Document: Socio-Economic and Demographic Profile: Chris Hani District Municipality
Description
The Eastern Cape Department of Social Development has a Population and Research Unit that is responsible for distributing relevant and accurate data to the Government Planners and Managers. As part of that work this Unit under the Department of Social Development published a second handbook called the 2009 Socio-Economic and Demographic Profile of the Eastern Cape Province.
This handbook follows the 2004 Socio-Economic and Demographic Profile of the Eastern Cape Province.
This handbook is informed by the Statistics South Africa’s 2007 Community Survey. It came out of the realization that there is a need for a publication that would reflect information at local municipal level. After a series of consultations this handbook was developed in an integrated effort between the Geographical Information System’s Unit of the Department and the Population and Research Unit of the Department of Social Development. The handbook covers a number of indicators grouped into four categories which are the Demographic Indicators, Development Indicators, Labour Market Indicators and Services.
