This document presents an assessment of the level of economic development, and constitutes a phase one-report in a multi-phased process towards the formulation of a local economic development (LED) plan for Umkhanyakude District. It considers internal and external factors influencing economic development, and provides an analysis of the key economic sectors within the District.
