Event: LOCATI Facilitation and Communication in LED training

01. December 2009 - 04. December 2009 InWEnt in collaboration with the South African LED Network is pleased to announce a joint training on Facilitation and Communication. Though focusing largely on an LED context, the core focus is on facilitation and communication skills which can be used in a variety of contexts. Approximately 80% of the training focus is on facilitation skills and 20% is on LED. You are invited to attend the workshop at Roode Vallei Country Lode, Pretoria from 1 – 4 December 2009.
BRIEF BACKGROUND
A vibrant local economy has many local and regional actors representing a wide range of public, private and civil society stakeholders. Facilitation and Communication is therefore an essential skill in facilitating an effective local economic development process.
COURSE OUTCOMES
In the Facilitation and Communication Training course participants will:
- Be able to distinguish the difference between training and facilitation
- Develop skills on facilitating interactions between the different role players in LED
- They will also gain an understanding of what needs to be in place for a facilitated process,
- How to set up a facilitation workshop, how to write a facilitation plan
- Developing an understanding of own strengths and weaknesses as facilitators
COURSE CONTENT
The course is aimed at increasing the participants’ theoretical knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Requirements of facilitation (content/issue, facilitator, group, contract),
- Role of facilitator
- Facilitation cycle and steering of process dynamics,
- Transfer-In and start situations during a facilitated process
- Facilitation methods,
- Group work during facilitation
- Reaching commitment and closure in a facilitated context
Methods used will be highly interactive and participatory. It will also include a practical facilitation session, with video feedback to individual participants.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is targeted at Facilitators, consultants, LED practitioners and Managers who contract LED consultants.
VENUE
Roode Vallei Country Lodge, Pretoria
COST
Cost is R 4,000 per participant for the four days. This fee includes accommodation and meals. Members of the LED Network will receive a R500 discount. The fee excludes transport to and from the venue.
Participation cost is payable before the event at the latest 27 November 2009.

By completing the application form you agree to the following: If you have to cancel your participation, the following refund policy applies: If you cancel before 13 November 2009, 50% of the payment will be reimbursed. If you cancel after 13 November 2009, the payment will not be reimbursed.
