Event: SITA GovTech 2010
Date:
05. September 2010 - 08. September 2010 Technology has changed, the economy has changed and ICT in government must also change.
Government’s 2010 agenda is clear: Deliver improved citizen services and, at the same time, maximise value and control costs.
Whether at national, provincial or local government levels the expectations are to become citizen-centred, improve governance controls, increase efficiency and constantly deliver – working together to create more effective services and build a better South Africa for all. All this against a backdrop of tightening budgets, fewer resources, and increasing demand from national government, customers, employees and an array of new initiatives.
This renewed focus on delivering better value for money is part of Government’s drive to ensure that the taxpayer gets the best deal possible from the public services they fund.
As a result, government officials have come under the spotlight of public scrutiny, and the expectation of increasing availability and quality of service - deliver the services needed, to the expected quality with the same or lower budget.
To help government officials meet these challenges head-on and ensure South Africa’s public sector derives all the key business benefits from its investment in information technology, the focus of the GovTech 2010 conference will be on “ICT delivering value”.
The conference will examine how to get more value from government spending on IT, including the IT-enabled business change that it supports. It will focus on the practical aspects of strategic delivery of IT, as well as discuss the technology and business aspects of maximising efficiency and achieving value for money through ICT.
We will also explore solutions in the context of Government’s ICT House of Values initiative - a strategic framework intended to guide the deployment of public sector ICT in a manner that will ultimately reduce ICT costs for government, improve government’s efficiency and effectiveness and make it convenient for citizens to access government services.
The bottom-line? In the current financial climate and with increasing pressure to cut costs, demonstrating value for money from ICT services has never been more important.
Join us in Durban, from 5-8 September, where more than 1 200 key public sector IT professionals will attend GovTech 2010 to discuss and debate the effectiveness and value that ICT can deliver.
