Event: Course in Management of Local Development

Delnet in the frame of Enterprise, Microfinance and Local Development Programme of the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITC/ILO), a specialized Agency of the United Nations, supports local development by combining training, information, technical advice and networking, drawing upon information and communication technology. It offers a distance training model and face-to-face courses on local development issues all over the world.

The Course in Management of Local Development aims to boost personal and institutional capabilities in terms of the design, implementation and evaluation of sustainable local development strategies and policies appropriate to the local socio-economic context and designed to improve the quality of life in a given territory.

The course is designed to support participants in their daily local development work by providing theoretical models and, especially, practical tools. The course contents should provide the basis for a critical analysis and, above all, for concrete implementation.

Those who successfully complete the Course in Local Development receive a diploma issued by the International Centre of the ILO.

Methodology
Delnet offers a distance learning training model that uses information and communication technology to give the participant a dynamic and flexible learning experience. Each participant enrolled in the Course in Local Development receives constant support from a specialized technical team who uses personalized technical resources and a Virtual Classroom to enable the participants to follow the course and to communicate with tutors and with other participants.

The Virtual Classroom allows the Tutorial Service to provide Delnet participants with a useful training tool that facilitates learning process. This electronic platform is reserved to participants only and offers essential elements in order to follow the courses: training contents; information about timetable and procedures; self-evaluation forms; as well as the opportunity to communicate with the Programme Services and the other distance course participants.

• Revalue the importance of public-private partnerships, as a necessary condition for the success of local development policies.
• Identify key fundamentals for strategic planning.
• Assess the state of your territory by identifying the strong elements, opportunities, weaknesses and threats.
• Design programmes/projects using the logical framework.
