Event: Water Security for Sustainable Development

23. February 2011 - 24. February 2011 Recent press reports have revealed that a number of countries in Africa already experience considerable water stress. This is as a result of insufficient and unreliable rainfall, climate change impact and mismanagement of water. The evidence is that as the continent continues its seemingly endless struggle for water security, there is need to improve the way in which it managed.
This conference will discuss water as a development tool and focus will be on these cross-cutting issues; water quality management, investment in water storage and use of water for sustainable development. The event will be a perfect platform for participants to concentrate efforts on improving the development and management of water to meet the growing demand for food, alleviate poverty and sustain economic growth.
