Event: Refresher Course Organising Local Economic Development
Date:
17. October 2011 - 28. October 2011 It is with great pleasure that we announce the refresher course 'Organising Local Economic Development'. The refresher course is sponsored by Nuffic and is targeted at NFP alumni, aiming to increase the impact and prolong the effect of their earlier NFP-funded training.
This refresher course will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 17 - 28 October 2011. The course will be hosted by the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) in close collaboration with the African Centre for Cities of the University of Cape Town and the Cape Town City Council.
The official language of the course is English, and there are 20 places available.
Eligibility
Application is subject to the following conditions:
- All alumni who previously benefited from an NFP fellowship, currently working in South Africa or in Brazil, Argentina or another Latin American country, are eligible to apply for a fellowship to participate in this refresher course.
- Applicants must have a relevant professional background, currently working in sectors related to Local Economic Development, e.g. land and infrastructure development for LED, employment creation, entrepreneurship development, improving competitiveness, value chain development or city marketing. Different institutions involved in Local Economic Development may include government, NGOs and private sector organisations.
- Applicants must have attended a course at the IHS or another Dutch higher education institution funded by the NFP and graduated before October 2009.
Any NFP alumnus can also ask a colleague to apply together. This colleague does not have to be an NFP Alumnus.
If you are not an NFP alumnus or you graduated too recently from the IHS to be eligible under the conditions above, but if you can secure your own means to finance your participation in the refresher course, you are also welcome to apply. Your admission will depend on the number of places available on the course and your application materials.
Details of application
Apply online no later than 15 August 2011 through www.ihs.nl/login. Please note that we ONLY accept digital application submissions. We will inform participants of the outcome of the selection process by 30 August 2011.
