The theme for the latest South African LED Network Newsletter is the Informal Economy. It consists of articles from various experts in the field that give an overview of the sector, a practical discussion of the Informal Economy as well as experiences from Provinces. Document:  We have uploaded a document by GIZ titled Kickstarting Processes of Local and Regional Economic Development: A Manual for LRED Facilitators. The document gives an overview of the essential characteristics and approaches to LRED as well as a detailed description of all steps that are necessary for getting a LRED process into full swing. The document can be downloaded here.

Event: The Department of Economic Development and Tourism in partnership with Richmond Municipality will be hosting a RSDI Strategic Project Fund (SPF) Awareness Session on 12 December 2011. Please RSVP by noon of Friday, 9 December 2011. For full event details please click here.

Event: On 12-14 December 2011 there will be a SALGA Y-Age Consultative Conference at the Kopanong Conference Centre in Benoni. The conference aims to engage various stakeholders in constructive dialogue towards progressing youth development in the municipal space. Please click here for more information.
