Dear SA LED Network Member,
While there are great concerns about the weakening Rand and inflation on the one hand, South Africa’s exports have benefited from increased external demand due to the cheaper currency on the other. Wine exports grew by 26% in 2013 compared to 2012 and some major investors, such as Mercedes Benz in East London are looking to expand their operations in the coming years. With much needed jobs in the pipeline, more and more municipalities are developing investment profiles and strategies to attract both local and foreign investors.
This week's newsflash looks highlights international good practices in investment promotion that can inform local investment plans and strategies. Also note that the SA Premier Business Awards are still open for registration. Categories include SMMEs, rural enterprises, young entrepreneuers, proudly South African and more.
