The Fairtrade Labelling Organisations (FLO) has become the global Fair Trade standard setting body for agricultural products. FLO is divided into two entities, FLO e.v., the parent body, which is a non-profit, organisation owned by various national labelling initiates, and FLO-Cert, a private entity, owned by FLO e.v., which carries out the audits and entitles producers to use the Fairtrade(one word) mark. The role of FLO e.v. it to identify new Fairtrade producers, build the capacity of the joint bodies to manage the social premium, set and monitor Fairtrade product standards and support producers comply with these standards. FLO e.v. and FLO-cert have respectively a liaison and audit team based in South Africa.
