Khula Enterprise Finance Ltd (Khula) was established in 1996 as an independent agency of the Department of Trade and Industry. As a development finance institution focusing on Small Businesses, Khula has for more than 10 years operated as a financial facilitator for the development of the rapidly growing Small Business sector of the South African economy.

Khula is wholesale finance institution that has developed ties in the public and private sectors. Through these channels - which include commercial banks, retail financial institutions, specialist funds and joint ventures - Khula plays an important role as a complementary financial institution, bridging finance gaps that are not addressed by commercial financial institutions in Small Business sector.
