Tourism partnership opportunity with Ghana

Dear SA LED Network Member,

We have an exciting request from the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) who are looking for a suitable partner for the Metropolitan Municipality of Sekondi Tekoradi which is a Coastal Municipality in Ghana. They are looking to learn from good Tourism & LED practice within Local Government in South Africa. In particular:

• Establishing a Sustainable Tourism Development institutional capacity;
• The development of Tourism Information;
• Building capacity of Tourism Stakeholders;

 The partnering will take the form of travel between the stakeholders between the South African and the Ghana municipalities, technical exchanges, collaborative working, pilot projects, and sharing of good practice. To date many South African municipalities have themselves benefitted from the CLGF Good Practice Scheme Project. For further information and for Municipalities to express their interest, please contact Nyasha Simbanegavi by mid / end of July 2010.
