New EIA Regulations and LED online debate

The new Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regulations by the Department of Environmental Affairs came into effect on 02/08/2010, signalling the start of the official implementation process of a new regime aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of EIA. The UCLG (United Cities and Local Governments) Decentralisation and Local Self-Government Committee is coordinating an online debate on decentralisation and local economic development from 30 August to 12 September.
