SALGA National Conference 2011
Dear SA LED Network Member,
Over 2 000 councillors and government officials attended SALGA’s National Conference last week at the ICC in Durban where the new NEC of SALGA was elected, with Councillor Thabo Manyoni as the new Chairperson of SALGA. A more detailed article about the highlights of this successful event as well as on the activities of the SA LED Network during the conference can be found here.
We wish to thank all delegates who visited the SA LED Network stand. The SA LED Network team enjoyed the many interesting discussions around some of the challenges councillors and officials face in LED and gathered lots of information on good LED practices as well as what kind of support and advice would be needed from SALGA. Councillors can register on the network for free and at any time, please click here.
The SA LED Network has compiled and edited A Councillor's Guide to Local Economic Development (LED) in South Africa, aimed at providing information and knowledge from a wide range of sources and organisations in order to give an overview of the current LED landscape in South Africa to inform the newly elected local governments and their administrations. During SALGA's Conference, around 250 LED Guides have been distributed to councillors, government officials and other interested stakeholders. Those who couldn't attend the conference but are interested to use the publication can download the full guidebook from our website. Please click on the image below:
